This document is a working draft and will be finalised before the Sagnorva app launches.
This policy explains what personal data Sagnorva (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our website and apps, why we collect it, and your choices. Sagnorva is for adults aged 18 and over.
What we collect
From you
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, profile photo (optional), the bio, interests and languages you choose to add, and confirmation that you are 18 or older. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your account ID and email from them.
- Website forms: your email on the waitlist; the details in a storyteller application; the names you suggest when requesting a storyteller.
- Books you upload: stored privately and shown only to you and the storyteller in your session.
- Messages and reports you send to us or through the app.
Storytellers only
- Identity check: a photo of your ID and a selfie, checked by our team with the help of automated face matching on our own servers. We keep them only until the check is complete, then delete them and keep the result.
- Payout details: bank details, held by our payment provider to pay you.
- Voice sample and profile information you choose to publish.
When you use Sagnorva
- Sessions: who took part, when, how long, the book and page, ratings, and whether it was cancelled or reported.
- Payments: handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
- Device data: device type, app version, time zone, language, and a push notification token.
Calls and recordings
Live video and voice sessions are not recorded. If a participant presses Report during a session, a short clip from that moment may be kept so our safety team can review it. These clips are kept only as long as the review and any follow-up require.
Why we use your data
- To run your account, bookings, sessions and payments (to perform our contract with you).
- To verify storytellers and keep the community safe, including automated checks that flag possible misuse for review (our legitimate interest in safety, and legal obligations).
- To send you service emails and notifications, such as booking confirmations and reminders, in your language.
- To send product news, only if you agree. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting duties.
Automated decisions
We use rules and AI tools running on our own servers to help score storyteller voice samples, sort reports and answer support questions. Decisions with serious effects on you, such as rejecting an application or suspending an account, can always be reviewed by a person if you ask.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with providers who help us run Sagnorva, under contracts that protect it:
- Our payment provider (currently Stripe): payments and payouts.
- Zoho: email delivery.
- Cloudflare: website delivery and protection.
- Apple and Google: sign-in, app distribution and push notifications.
- An SMS provider: phone verification codes.
We may also share data when the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety. Our main databases and AI tools run on servers we operate ourselves.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and uploads straight away. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires, and safety records as long as needed to keep the community safe.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected]. You can also delete your account yourself; see Delete your account. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, and we’ll tell you and the authorities about a breach where the law requires.
Children
Sagnorva is not for anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data.
Changes and contact
We’ll post changes here and tell you about important ones by email or in the app. Questions: [email protected].
